How much is the work permit fee?
According to the latest guidance in Decision No. 526/QD-LDTBXH in 2021, if a foreigner falls into the case of a work permit issued by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, there will be no fee.
If the work permit is issued by the Department of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs, the foreign employer will have to pay the fee.

Who should bear the work permit fee?
Pursuant to Point d, Clause 2, Article 5 of Circular 85/2019/TT-BTC; the fee for granting work permits to foreigners working in Vietnam is the amount collected when a competent state agency issues work permits to foreigners working in enterprises; agencies and organizations operating in the Vietnamese territory.
In particular, according to Article 11 of Decree 152/2020/ND-CP and Decision No. 526/QD-LDTBXH, the person responsible for carrying out this procedure is the employer.
